Arrived at Borth for the FON weekend had the furthest to travel but was the
first on the beach apart from the campers but they was still asleep so I'm
claiming the first on the beach prize. Al and arrived followed by steve
with the report that rabbit's car had dug its self into a hole round on the
estuary so we all went round to dig and push it out. We found out later he
had been there all night and if it had been a spring tide the water would
of been over the roof!.
Once back round at the golf course carpark things were looking very windy
and big in the wave/ shore break department. People sent out on 5m I sat
and watched for a while as I knew it wasn't the type of conditions I would
be able to survive in. After a while the wind dropped off a little Al came
back in a rigged his 5.7 so I bit the bullet and rigged 5.8 and hit the
water. Waves didn't look that big from the beach but when you are in the
water with them and its blowing like hell they get very big. I tryed for a
while but I could get out through the mush and breaking waves I would get
going then the board would stop dead in the breaking white water and I
would be over the front, my 5.8 not being a wave sail I decided to give in
before it got expensive, on getting back on the beach saw that I had seen
Al rig his 5.7 but left it on the beach and had gone back out on his 5.0 !
Went back to watching from the beach......but the day wasn't
over................................
